In response to the recent tragedy at Maryvale High School, Frank Borman Elementary School hosted a powerful community forum on school safety in partnership with Telemundo Arizona. Held on Thursday, August 28, the event brought together families, educators, community members, and local leaders for an open dialogue focused on strengthening the safety of students in and around our schools.
Distinguished guests included Phoenix Police Chief Matt Giordano, District 5 Councilwoman Betty Guardado, and Cartwright School District Acting Superintendent Steve Watson, along with other experts who shared their knowledge and perspectives. Panelists addressed critical safety concerns, answered questions directly from families, and offered practical tips to help parents engage in meaningful conversations with their children about safety.
Leading up to the event, Telemundo Arizona aired live promotional segments from the school to encourage community participation and raise awareness about the importance of the discussion.
Designed to foster collaboration, the forum played an important role in advancing the district’s commitment to student safety. The open dialogue helped generate ideas, build understanding, and reinforce the collaborative efforts needed to ensure every student feels safe and supported.
The Cartwright School District extends its gratitude to Telemundo Arizona, our community partners, and the families who participated. Events like these strengthen the bonds between schools and the community while keeping student safety at the heart of our shared priorities.
