Dear Holiday Park Families,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! My name is Deborah Kuenzli and I am the proud principal at Holiday Park School. I am happy to announce that our students have continued to grow socially, emotionally, and academically over the past year. I am so proud of their accomplishments. Thank you to all of our families for your dedication in supporting our students during the 2022-23 school year.
Holiday Park has been an active part of the Maryvale neighborhood since 1961. As one of the first trauma informed schools in Arizona, we focus on the development of the whole child by addressing their academic and social emotional needs while maintaining high expectations for academic achievement. A school counselor is on site during the school day to assist our scholars along with a behavior specialist who works with both teachers and students on their social emotional learning. The school offers a variety of opportunities for students to explore their passions. After school clubs are offered for our scholars that include sports, academic interventions, gardening, cheerleeding, coding, STEM, etc. Our parent involvement programs include opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s education on many levels including monthly Parent Coffee Talks, Curriculum Nights, community events such as College and Career Day, STEM events, and movie nights.
It is a pleasure to announce that we will continue to serve breakfast in the classroom for all students. When students arrive on campus they will go immediately to the classrooms. We truly value the opportunity to provide a free, healthy breakfast for every Holiday Park student, but we cannot lose instructional time to do so. Please help us ensure all students are here by 7:45 a.m. every day!
This Roadrunner Loop at 67th Avenue and Campbell will be for car drop-off and pick-up only. Students that are walking may enter through the other points of the campus. The front of the campus (parking lot/blue ramada) is for walk up families only. Please park along the street if you choose this option. The safest drop off/pick up area is at the Roadrunner Loop. The bus bay area is for students receiving transportation services only. Do not drop off students on the street or in front of the crosswalk. Students may not be dropped off or come on campus before 7:30 a.m. as we do not have anyone to monitor them if they arrive early. Dismissal will take place at 2:45 p.m. Please let the teachers know how you would like for your child to get home.
As you know, a strong partnership between home and school has great benefits for students and families. It is a privilege to serve you and your children and I value this responsibility to the highest degree. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at [email protected] with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 3 for our Meet the Teacher Event from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and again on the first day of school Monday, August 7, at 7:45 a.m. ☺
Sincerely,
Deborah Kuenzli, Principal
