What a FUN and exciting day at Estrella Middle School! Our AVID Ambassadors worked hard to prepare an awesome AVID Day experience, and our entire school got the chance to be part of it! 💜
Students from across campus had the opportunity to head into the gym, meet and ask questions to professionals from different careers and organizations, and learn about all the possibilities waiting for them after middle school! 👏✨

Future Scientist Lab!🔬🦖
Students in Mr. Smyth’s elective took a trip back in time to the Carboniferous Period! 🌎 Students researched creatures from this prehistoric period and then designed and created their own paper-mâché models.
We love seeing our Stars get creative, work with their hands, and turn their learning into something they can see and share! ⭐

🌟AVID students practiced the Boys Town Skill: Disagreeing Appropriately. During a small-group activity about being stranded on a deserted island, students selected their top 5 items, wrote reasons, and discussed them with a partner. After a quick check-in, they were grouped, and larger groups had to decide and create a whiteboard to present to the whole class.
Everyone used a pleasant tone, shared their specific reasons, and worked together nicely to defend their selections.

Today, our students put their engineering skills to the test! They designed and built bridges, then tested just how much weight their structures could hold. Students learned from their designs, made adjustments, and got to see engineering in action!
