In 1974, he was elected to serve as the 14th Governor of Arizona and resigned two years into his term to become U.S. Ambassador to Argentina. When Castro died in 2015, students honored him by remembering his contributions to Arizona politics. They learning about his legacy and his accomplishments in office. Castro's daughter, Beth Castro, still visits the school and even helps the school with funding.

The Castro Community would like to thank Ms. Beth Castro, daughter of the late  Governor Raul H. Castro for her generous donation of $5000.  The school used a portion of the donation to enhance the studio as recommended by a media specialist.  The rest of the donation was saved for future innovations.  We truly appreciate Ms. Castro's continued support of the school named after her father.
