The tragic event in Uvalde, Texas, has us all grieving for the families who have lost loved ones. The safety of our scholars and staff is of the greatest importance to us, and we want to assure you that all possible steps are being taken to keep our schools safe. What follows are some of the methods that we conduct to keep our scholars and staff safe:
We have School Resource Officers (SROs) throughout our district.
We have a school counselor at every campus as part of a team of trusted adults that our students can go to.
As always, access to our schools will continue to be secured. Visitors now have to be buzzed in to enter our school's front offices.
We have a district Safety and Risk Manager who works closely with the Phoenix Police Department to keep our campuses safe.
We have a task force that consists of teachers, administrators, parents, and first responders to share ideas to continuously improve campus security.
We are enlisting the services of security guards to be a presence on our campus.
We are using bond funds to increase perimeter fencing to heighten security at our schools.
We provide frequent training for emergency situations throughout the year.
We are constantly looking for methods to improve the safety and security of our campuses, and our goal is for you and our scholars to feel confident that they will be safe when coming to school every day.
