Scholars from Glenn L. Downs Social Sciences Academy spend a week in Washington DC
At the beginning of May, 16 Glenn L. Downs Social Sciences Academy Scholars attended a District-sponsored educational field trip to Washington DC. The scholars visited museums, monuments, and even the capitol during their time in the country's capital. Our incredible Board President Marissa Hernandez and Vice President Pedro Lopez attended as chaperones during the trip. The scholars experienced a large portion of DC, including things like the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the White House, and even the tunnel system below the Capital. They visited the inside of Representative Ruben Gallego's office, where they saw photos and signed legislation from former presidents. The scholars and Cartwright would like to thank the sponsors ADM, Veregy, and Rytan Construction for making this trip possible, as well as our Superintendent Dr. LeeAnn Aguilar-Lawlor.
