Kristi ScharerThe Cartwright School District is proud to announce that Kristie Scharer was awarded the 2019 Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children (AzAEYC) Outstanding Educator on October 5th. Kristie was recognized for her commitment to quality early education. Kristie works at the Cartwright Early Childhood Center (CECC) as the (MOWR) Move On When Reading Specialist.

Scharer began her dream job after graduating from college: lead teacher in the infant room for a small child care center. Since then, she’s taught in New York, Texas and now Arizona. "Teaching young children is one of the most difficult — yet rewarding — professions out there," said Scharer. "I joined NAEYC back in 1998 to be part of a group of professionals that felt the same way I did. I wanted to bring Power and a voice to this overlooked profession. I wanted to connect with professionals that felt the same way I did. My life has taken me through several states. I am a member of AzAEYC to continue that work here in Arizona."

Congratulations Kristie!
