Summer Message from the Superintendent

Dr. Lawlor portraitWe have exciting news to share for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year! Our K-5 schools will now be K-6 models. Our middle schools will continue to provide robust instruction. As a sixth grader, your child will be exposed to tremendous options that include college and career preparatory programs that focus on foreign language, a strong STEM education, and Social Emotional Learning. In the next school year, we will also be introducing our pilot Dual Language Program at Starlight Park Elementary beginning with Kindergarteners. A Dual Language Program fosters bilingualism, biliteracy and high levels of academic achievement through instruction in two languages, English and Spanish. Our ELL Teacher of the Year and our ELL Teacher of the Year Runner-up have been tasked with leading the program at Starlight Park. They are the best of the best. Next year will also include more extra-curricular activities and more field trips. This summer we are also feeding our entire community through our Summer Meals Program that kicked off on May 30th. Information for the program is in the news section of our website. Lastly, the changes that we are making for the coming school year are designed to give our students a first class, global education, one that will provide them with immense opportunities beyond college and career. We are “One Team, Una Familia!” and we take great pride in serving our community and our students all year long!
