School Rules and Regulations

Estrella Middle School students are expected to take responsibility for their learning. These responsibilites include regular attendance, productive effort with schoolwork, and following all school rules and regulations. No student has the right to interfere with the education of other students, and all students shall respect the rights and property of others.

THE SCHOOL ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS, DAMAGE, OR THEFT OF PERSONAL ITEMS. EMS WILL NOT INVESTIGATE THE LOSS OF ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICES. DO NOT BRING THESE ITEMS TO SCHOOL.

  1. Before entering the classroom, wait until the group inside has left.
  2. Enter immediately, quietly, and be ready to begin class work promptly.
  3. Students are required to have the proper materials for each class.
  4. Teachers will dismiss the class.
  5. Students are prohibited from the loitering between classes.
  6. The fence by El Oso Park is OFF limist at all times.
  7. The north side of the building is OFF limits during lunch hours.
  8. Cell phones, video cameras, camers, MP3 players, or any other electronic devices are not allowed on campus.
  9. All students are to leave the school buildings no later than 3:45 PM, unless attending a supervised school activity. No loitering after school.
  10. No energy drinks or fountain drinks are allowed on campus.
  11. Possession and/or use of alcoholic beverages and illegal substances are not allowed on campus and can lead to criminal prosecution.
  12. Tobacco products are not permitted on the Estrella property. Any student found with tobacco products on school property will have those products confiscated and will face suspension or other disciplinary action.
  13. Electronic cigarettes and hookahs are considered tobacco products, even if they do not contain tobacco or nicotine, and are therefore prohibited on campus.
  14. Perfume, cologne, and body sprays are not permitted on campus, and will be confiscated.
  15. Any items that amy interfere with the educational process are not permitted in school or on campus. These items will be confiscated and may or may not be returned to the parent/guardian.
  16. Cartwright School District has a weapon policy requiring student and parental signature.
  17. Fighting, inciting, or confronting will not be tolerated on school property. The penalty for these actions is suspension from school.
  18. Stealing will result in suspension and can lead to criminal prosecution.
  19. Each student excused from class must carry a pass, which is issued by the teacher, office personnel, or administration.
  20. Three minutes are allocated between classes. No bathroom passes are to be issued during the first ten or last ten minutes of class.
  21. Threatening others or extorting money or property from anyone is prohibited. Violators will be suspended and face possible criminal prosecution.
  22. During an out of school suspension, students are not permitted on Cartwright School District property, or within 300 feet of any District property.
  23. Foul language and horseplay will not be tolerated.
  24. Tackle football is not permitted on campus.
  25. Gum chewing is not allowed in school buildings or on campus.
  26. Students are not allowed to talk to strangers or other students during school time that are visiting El Oso Park or along school fence lines.
  27. Only school authorized selling is permitted on campus.
  28. The dress code shall take effect when each student enters campus, as well as, to and from school.
  29. There is no acceptable excuse to disrespect any EMS staff member or student.
  30. Students are not to be in El Oso Park before or after school.
  31. No public display of affection is allowed on school premises or during school events.
  32. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
