Attendance Regulations

Regular attendance is a valuable part of the learning process that not only affects your own performance in school, but also affects the total character of the school. It is our expectation that parents call the school at 623-691-5428 to report an absence. If a call is not received, the attendance office or an automatic caller will attempt to contact the parent to verify the absence. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure his/her child is attending school on a regular basis. Students may not be absent more than 10% of the school year under Arizona State Law.

One of the most important social and educatiol skills we emphasize to Estrella students is the importance of getting to school and class on time. Tardiness is not tolerated at Estrella Middle School because of the disturbance and interruption late arrival causes in the classroom. If a child is tardy, a parent must inform the office. All students with unexcused tardies will be assigned a discipline consequence. If a student arrives to school after 8:45 AM in the 6GC, or 9:00 AM in the 7/8 building, it is considered truancy. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure his/her child is arriving to school on time.
